Your Role as a Classroom Teacher

As a Junior School Teacher at Calderwood Christian School, you will play a vital role in shaping the lives of our students. Reporting to the Head of Junior School, you will be responsible for the spiritual, academic, emotional, and social wellbeing of your students, delivering an engaging curriculum that inspires and motivates.

In this dynamic position, you will facilitate learning experiences grounded in God's Word, employing innovative teaching methods and integrating technology to enhance learning outcomes. By fostering a culture of respect and collaboration, you will create a safe and inviting classroom environment where every student can thrive.

  • Relevant tertiary teaching qualifications from a recognized institution.
  • Evidence of teacher accreditation from the NSW Educational Standards Authority (NESA).
  • Proficient in K-6 NSW Curriculum.
  • A valid, paid Working with Children Check.
  • Strong understanding of evidence-based teaching strategies and classroom management.

Application Process

  1. Application Submission
    Interested candidates are invited to submit a cover letter, resume, and complete the application form online. 
  2. Shortlisting
    Applications are reviewed by our HR and leadership team. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview.
  3. Interview - Round 1
    Shortlisted candidates will participate in an initial panel interview, which will explore professional experience, educational philosophy, and personal faith journey. Candidates will also be asked to complete a task relevant to the role. 
  4. Reference Checks
    We contact professional and pastoral referees to gain further insight into the candidate’s suitability and alignment with our school’s values.
  5. Interview - Round 2
    Final interviews will be conducted with a panel including the School Principal and a member/s of the Board. This stage will focus on theological understanding and alignment with the school’s Statement of Faith. 
  6. Offer of Employment
    Successful candidates will receive a formal offer and onboarding information.
  7. Onboarding & Induction
    New staff participate in an induction program to support their integration into our school community.
