Welcome to Calderwood Christian School

Located in the picturesque Calderwood Valley, Calderwood Christian School is more than just an institution; it's a thriving community where faith and learning intertwine. Our non-denominational, Christian day-school is dedicated to providing an exceptional education grounded in biblical principles. With a commitment to nurturing both the mind and spirit, we empower students to explore their God-given gifts as they grow in their faith and contribute to our covenant community.

Our school is nestled in a stunning landscape, offering modern facilities and extensive open spaces that enhance the learning experience. We cater to over 500 students, providing a seamless educational journey from Prep to Year 12, all under one roof. As a member of Illawarra Christian Education, we are devoted to instilling Christian values in our students while offering a wide range of academic and extracurricular opportunities.

Your Role in Our Community

As a member of our Secondary PDHPE faculty, you will join a friendly and collegiate team working throughout our whole secondary school.

This role may include teaching across Stage 4 to Stage 6, depending on your experience and the needs of the school. Experience teaching Year 12 Health & Movement Science is highly desirable, and experience teaching Community & Family Studies (CAFS) will be an advantage to the successful applicant.

You'll work collaboratively with fellow educators and pastoral leaders to support the holistic growth of students, integrating faith and learning in a way that reflects the mission and values of our school.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver high-quality PDHPE lessons that reflect a Christian worldview.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement the Years 7–12 Learning Framework.
  • Provide mentorship and support within pastoral care groups, focusing on students’ academic progress and personal wellbeing.
  • Use ICT to enhance learning outcomes and maintain effective classroom management.
  • Collect and analyse student data to inform teaching practices and improve learning outcomes.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and staff, using the school’s online learning management system.

Who You Are

We are seeking a passionate educator who embodies the spirit of Christ and is dedicated to nurturing students’ growth in all aspects of their lives. Your role goes beyond teaching; you will be a mentor, a guide, and a role model for the students in your care.

  • A committed Christian and active member of your local church.
  • Proficient in employing evidence-based teaching and assessment strategies.
  • Skilled in creating a collaborative and respectful classroom culture.
  • Dedicated to the continuous pursuit of professional growth and excellence in teaching.

About Us

At Calderwood Christian School, we value academic mastery and the pursuit of excellence in all we do, but we believe that education is about much more than academic achievement and worldly measures of success. A rounded education acknowledges the inherent creativity, incalculable value, and eternal potential of each student. At Calderwood we aspire to see each child reach their potential and transform the world into which they graduate. Calderwood partners with parents to provide an authentic Christian community in which to grow and learn. Students grow in character, develop godly virtues, and refine their gifts and passions, through age-appropriate learning activities and the encouragement of the faithful Christian men and women who form the staff team.
